About the Artist

Or (born 1985) is an Italian artist and designer currently working internationally.

Ornella’s design philosophy centres around a material-based, and a crafted approach to digital design and the creative use of robotic fabrication.
Her art and design studio in London, works across all scales and pursues a material practice that blends art, design, architecture and fashion.

Over the past 25 years, she has been designing and creating projects and art for the interior, and yacht industry, alongside fashion and textiles for her brand Ornella Gallo Di Fortuna created in 2006

Relentlessly curious about and inspired by the diversity and complexity of all matter and strive to understand how to produce new material systems through technological and material innovation without leaving behind the traditional techniques.

Central to this process of investigation is the interest in craft in both physical and digital mediums. Craftsmanship occurs at the intersection between material knowledge and tool expertise.

The current explorations and art commissions focus on the design creation of large murals of Murano glass, fresco paint, fabrics embroidered into walls or steel that resembles fabric textures, large etching glass, metal and concrete embroidery, and 3D printed concrete.

Recently her art was focus on a solo show “Solid Reflections” at our Hanover Gallery London, where she exhibited large wall sculptures, called experiments in concrete, laser cut gold mirror and metallic mesh.

Because of her background in textiles and fashion the work often has sculptural attributes but is born out of the traditions of craft and language of painting and drawing with emphasis placed on the process of making
